Frequently Asked Questions

  • When booking a hotel on any platform, commission is always built into the rate you see online, whether that’s directly with the hotel, a credit card partner, or a third-party. When booking through a travel advisor like us, we are paid that commission from the hotel as a ‘thank you’ for sending you to them. In turn, you get to support our small business while receiving the perks of booking through a travel advisor and taking advantage of our many partnerships.

  • Working with a travel advisor has many advantages. 1) We have access to a plethora of hotel perks (like free breakfast, complimentary upgrades, food and spa credits, welcome gifts, etc., 2) You become a VIP at that hotel due to our ample partnerships worldwide, 3) We manage your booking entirely and deal with any issues that may arise. You get to relax on vacation and not spend it on hold with customer service when a flight gets delayed or an activity gets canceled.

  • Most of the time, the price will be the exact same as if you were booking yourself. If it's ever more expensive, it is usually not by much and the value of the perks outweighs the extra cost by a landslide. We can also still book the regular rate you see if you're not interested in the perks!

  • No worries! Send us an email at farrinabroad@gmail.com and we’ll see if we can do a “takeover booking”; which means we’ll be added as the agent of record and you get all the perks. No extra money out of your pocket, just the perks added to the reservation - win win!

  • We do restaurant reservations for our VIP package clients only. Restaurant recommendations are included with the Abroad Package.

  • A good rule of thumb is 6-8 months before a trip, but of course this ranges based on where and when you’re going. We always recommend, the earlier the better! This way, we can get you on our radar and ensure you get in all the best spots as soon as reservations open!

  • A few ways! First, we like to think of ourselves as travel designers, not just advisors. Because your trip should be a fully-designed experience tailor-made for you, perfectly curated for the vibe you’re chasing, from start to finish, rather than the traditional advisor role of booking, putting a few recommendations in front of you, and sending you on your way.

Moreso, most travel advisors do not advise on how to maximize your credit card points and miles because they don’t make commission that way. We see it differently - we want to help you maximize your points to unlock that final touch, flying international in business class with the lay-flat seats. Because why settle when it’s within reach?

Why not spend them on hotels? You can, but it’s rarely a good redemption. As a general rule of thumb, points should be spent on airfare, where you can receive a much stronger redemption rate. Fly business and save your cash for hotels!

  • Travel has evolved so much over the past decade. While AI might be great to synthesize data and search results, AI lacks human experience from someone who has actually been to the location - some who knows the pro-tips like where to request your table in the restaurant to have the best sunset view in Santorini, which skip-the-line tour actually gets you the best overall experience at the Colosseum, and which hole-in-the-wall tapas place to eat in Barcelona for an authentic Spanish experience.

Working with us, you get tried and true experience from a friend who’s been there and knows all the tips and tricks, and if we haven’t, we utilize our global partnerships the best in-country support.
